Leftover rolls sit in Brainport warehouses for months. Still good, already paid for.
The textile companies we interviewed hold leftover rolls that are still good. They sit in the warehouse for months because there is no regular buyer for them.
Wholesale fabric is ordered in hundreds of metres. In our trader's case, 500.
Over a season, 400 metres go into products. Then the collection changes and that colour is no longer wanted.
The last 100 metres are still good. Too little for a large manufacturer, too much for a small designer. They can sit for two years, taking up shelf space and tying up money.
Example from a textile trader on our team.
“The quantity is too small for some larger manufacturers and too large for a small designer to buy all at once.”
“We can share a list, but it becomes outdated when some rolls are sold.”
“A discontinued shade of outdoor fabric can remain unused even though the material is still in good condition.”
For context: Dutch household textile waste, 2022
of textiles thrown out by Dutch households.
106.5 million kg of it ended up in residual waste.
How much usable surplus sits in Brainport business warehouses. It isn't reliably documented, so we're asking companies directly.

Shaped by our interviews with local textile companies.
Buy the length you need, or the whole roll. Buyers filter by fabric, width, quantity and distance.
Example split. A buyer can also take all 100 m.
Pricing isn't set yet. Pilot members hear it first and help shape it.
Filter these example rolls the way a buyer would.
The last 100 metres of the roll, finally in use.
A commission on every sale, plus a transport fee on orders under 20 m. Drag to see where the money goes.
Illustrative rates: 10% commission, €8 transport fee under 20 m. Real pricing isn't set yet.
Over 20 m, no transport fee. Restrol keeps the commission.
We're inviting a small group of textile companies and buyers to test Restrol. Leave your email and we'll contact you when the pilot starts.
Leaving your email is free and doesn't commit you to anything.
We'll email you when the pilot opens.
Thanks, that helps a lot.
